Which opamp works the best in my setup? This question's answer is a very personal choice and in my opnion depends on two major variables, what type of music you enjoy listening to and what heaphones you currently use. This is a simplistic view and you will find plenty of information on the headphone forums in the links page. Feel free to email HIPPOhifi if you have any questions.
In which order would you recommend to upgrade the Bloat? A more simple question than previous, in preferred order; Opamps, Capacitors then DAC. Which operating systems and versions are compatible? The following operating systems will automatically detect and install the drivers:
Where did "The Bloat" name originate? A "Bloat" is known as a group of Hippopotamus, this is meant to reflect the combination of the DAC and Amplifier. No guesses for the names of the seperate DAC and seperate amplifier to be launched in the future. How long does it take to constuct and test a single unit? If the unit is not customized it usually take 2 1/2 hrs, customized units may take a little longer. Will there be more upgrades in future releases? We can't see major upgrades like the opamp option, but we are looking Class A biasing and the Input Capacitors. These are available without changing the board layout but we have been spending our time to the three upgrades we believe are the best value for money. Will HIPPOhifi be offering the Bloat as a DIY kitset? No, the components used are extremely small and the likelyhood of something going wrong in the manufacturing process is high. How do I install the Bloat? This is a very simple process, download pdf here. |
